Immersive and Interactive Experience / Doku Ankara

Doku Ankara is an urban memory project that proposes reading Ankara’s thousands-year-old history through textures rather than through a chronological narrative. The project is based on the idea that the city’s past can be understood not only through major structures and events, but also through the traces accumulated in stone, wood, motifs, fabrics, and symbols. Within this scope, each selected texture represents a historical and symbolic layer of Ankara. The texture featured each month in the calendar, together with the accompanying places, makes visible the traces of different periods of the city and turns Ankara into a layered, readable field of memory.

IMMERSIVE VIDEO SPACE

Ankara's memory of thousands of years met over 30,000 visitors across two days.
We transformed the layers of a city stretching from the Phrygians to the Seljuks, from the founding of the Republic to today, into an immersive experience with Doku Ankara.

When sound, image and space come together, history becomes something you can touch.
Realized as part of the 5th International Ankara Brand Meetings organized by the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, at ATO Congresium, April 24–25, 2026.

We built the interactive experience of Doku Ankara around two core tools: After Effects and Touchdesigner
Animations for all 12 months of content were produced in After Effects. On the TouchDesigner side, we developed an interactive system running on a touchscreen display — when a visitor taps a month's button, the corresponding video triggers on the large screen, and once the content ends, the system returns to its idle loop.
