O R I G I N

2026

it didn't exist as you see it

Every commodity conceals the nature and labor that made it — Marx called this commodity fetishism. In 2026 that concealment has become perfect: we neither know nor wonder which mines, which hands, which continents each object in our grasp has passed through. The object simply exists "as we see it." ORIGIN draws back the veil. From a sneaker to a television, a lipstick to a car door, each object in the series opens at a single point and carries the raw nature it was made from out from within itself: cotton bolls, the milk of the rubber tree, iron ore, sand, crude oil. The materials are not placed beside the object — they grow, flow and transform out of it. The familiar surface and the hidden origin meet in one body. Each object leaves behind a single "confession" — oil seeping from the shoe, milk-white latex flowing from the tire, crude oil pooling beneath the bottle. Quiet proof that everything we take for granted has an origin we have chosen not to see.
